Cleaning your boots

RM William’s Leather Cleaner keeps boots looking as good as new, apply R.M. Williams leather cleaner anytime to get rid of a bit of dirt on them or are starting to look a little drab. Spray cleaner directly on boots. Using a damp cloth massage in. Remove any excess cleaner with a dry cloth. This should be completed prior to applying polish.

If you do not have a leather cleaner, the best and least expensive way to clean your boots is with vinegar and water. We suggest one part vinegar to three parts water in a spray bottle. Spray the vinegar solution onto your boots and wipe off with a clean lint-free cloth. Let them dry and repeat as necessary. The vinegar acts to draw the minerals and dirt out of the leather, so some persistent salt stains may take a couple of treatments. Once you are satisfied that your boots are clean, they need to be conditioned.

Conditioning your Boots

Conditioning your boots In general, leather dries out over time, and natural oils need to be added back into the leather. Conditioning your boots revitalizes the leather and add back suppleness and water-repellency. It will also re-energise the colour, bringing them back to a deep rich colour.

R.M. Williams Leather Conditioner

To protect and maintain supple leather we only recommend applying R.M. Williams’s unique leather conditioner regularly, once or twice a month. This nourishes the leather and helps keep your boots in top condition and to prevent the leather from cracking. The conditioner acts as an umbrella or raincoat to protect the leather against rain and wet weather.

Use a cloth to apply and massage into the boot. Leave your boots for 24 – 48 hours to allow the conditioner to fully absorb. Once the conditioner is completely absorbed into the leather, give the leather a good buff with a dry cloth.

R.M. Williams Stockman’s Boot Polish

For high shine boots that use yearling leather which is chrome tanned to achieve a highly polished appearance and to resist water penetration, in addition to regular conditioner, apply R.M. Williams Stockman’s boot polish. This should be applied on a regular basis to maintain colour and remove any to cover any deep scuffs. Massage the polish well into the boot and then buff with a clean cloth for the highest shine.

Now that you are armed with the knowledge to keep your RM Williams Boots in top condition you can be assured that you can enjoy wearing your boots for many years to come.
